Ken has worked in industry, government and consulting, promoting environmentally sustainable organizations, processes and services. In this regard, he is sought after for auditing and improving existing systems and developing new organizational structures that account for evolving national and international multimedia environmental requirements including those associated with solid and hazardous waste management, chemicals, e-waste, energy, ozone depleting substances, greenhouse gases, and pesticides. In addition to his focus on existing requirements, Ken consults large and small businesses on sustainable practices and ISO 14001 environmental management systems across the US and abroad. He is a skilled manager, known for being organized, rational, technical, innovative and inspirational. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering from University of California Los Angeles, a Master of Art in Geology from University of California Santa Barbara, and a B.S. in Geology and Geophysics from Yale University.
Ken has an in-depth knowledge of statutes and regulations. His background in this area comes from drafting and enforcing regulations while at US EPA; assisting Congress in the development of risk-based environmental statutes; teaching courses to professionals in the US and abroad; and consulting to international businesses on environmental compliance to aid them in competing in the European Union and Asian markets.
